When my daughters were small I thought that being a good mom meant I had to do everything myself.
I cringe saying that out loud now because … oof.
And I did – do everything myself, I mean.
Don’t believe me? Well, here’s proof: I made homemade sunscreen for my kids.
Homemade freakin’ sunscreen!! Don’t even get me started on that ghastly process of finding the right ingredients and boiling them together in my kitchen. *shudders*
But – stubborn Taurus energy – I wanted my kids to wear natural sunscreen, dammit. So instead of buying it at the store like a normal person, I was determined to make it myself.
Crazy times.
I’ve loosened the reins on my need to do everything perfectly and by myself a lot since then, but it’s still a default that dies hard and takes lots of practice to move through. I’m making progress thought!! For example …
I joined a health coaching program this year after DECADES of trying to figure out my nutrition and overall wellness on my own. Oops.
I finally bought a book and course on investing after YEARS of winging it. #abouttime.
Baby steps.
But work is the hardest. It is SO hard for me as a business owner to admit what I don’t know and then TRUST other people to help me with that thing.
